Jarl Timber AB
Holger Jarl founded the company in 1946, sawing timber for the gas generators that were used as car fuel sources in those days, producing wood alcohol. Holger set up business in Broakulla, which is just a few kilometres outside Emmaboda, in Smaland.
It was not long before timber processing developed and the company started selling sawn softwood products. In 1964 Holger was joined by his son Ronney and during the later 60's and early 70's Ronney's brothers also joined the family firm.
Ronney soon saw the potential for exports of high quality Spruce and began looking for partners. By 1966 this was developing and the UK began to emerge as a new major market. Exports continued to develop in a broader perspective as Jarl Timber gained a closer insight into the specific requirements of different countries.
Today, Jarl Timber sells its products in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Japan, the UK & of course Sweden, while the raw material comes mainly from local forests that are within a 150km radius of Broakulla. A close working relationship with other small, local sawmills gives Jarl Timber the ability to provide its customers with an extremely flexible service.
In 2005 Ronney Jarl & Bernt Ivarsson of Profura restructured the whole company, changing its name to the current style, Jarl Timber AB, which produces over 110,000 cubic metres of sawn timber products each year. Spruce remains as the main species at around 80% of total production.
In October 2007, the Norvik-group A/S, Iceland, ocquired the company and are now the owners of Jarl Timber AB.
Today Jarl Timber is a strong, reliable partner and offers a long term perspective, through continuous re-investment in production, automation and IT. The family ethos runs through to a loyal workforce of 55 people, who have years of experience and care deeply about the future of Jarl Timber's customers. This consideration for the forests, our partners, the environment and the future are the keys to our success, supplying a growing number of customers across the world.
