Timber is an amazing material; natural,renewable, environmentally friendly and one of the most versatile construction materials available, whilst also being a great source of energy. Nature has a place in people's hearts. More and more people are coming to appreciate the advantages of timber in comparison to steel, concrete and plastic. Timber has a huge range of technical performance and economic advantages over competing materials, with qualities and characteristics that they simply cannot match.

Throughout man's development, timber has been there, as a natural construction material and energy source. In the post industrial revolution era there have been a range of competing materials, but as the 21st Century begins to take shape, timber is rapidly regaining it rightful position.

Today people have a far higher awareness of the issues surrounding the choices that they make; they want to identify with natural materials that are sourced responsibly and see great prestige in 'signing up' to timber that meets this criteria. This is also borne out by the increasing amount of involvment by regulators and advisory bodies who are specifying sustainably sourced timber products in public and social projects.
